Bobis and his wife Sam Shuren arrived in Karang Nyimbur on Thursday, July 22, 2011, and stayed in Damai Bungalow, in Karang Nyimbur.
On Sunday, July 24 Daniel surfed in Karang Nyimbur, but only a few hours later, at about 09.30 a.m. his surfboard was found ashore but his body was missing. The leggy of the board was snapped. Some people speculated that he was drown and swept away.
Judging from the snapped leggy, it was thought that he may have surfed far away off shore, and was clam shelled and swept away by a big wave.
As of Sunday afternoon, July 25, his body was not yet found despite the deployment of 8 rescue team members (SAR) from of Lampung province, local policemen and members of Disaster Aids Team from Tourism Board of Lampung Barat County to search for it.
SAR team from Jakarta was planned to be deployed today (July 26) for help.
The SAR team from Jakarta will take a helicopter to search the location in order to find the missing body.
“We and the SAR team, and with the help from local people will continue searching for the missing body until we find it,” said AKP Ery Hapri, SH the chief of the police of Pesisir Selatan sub-district. “Hopefully, we can find him soon,” he added. (from Radar Lambar)
(Update: Until today, July 28, the body hasn't yet been found. Rescuers with helicopter are still searching for the missing body.)
(Update: The body of Daniel Bobis was at last found on July 28, at about 9 o'clock in the morning by a fisherman in Kaur, Bengkulu, 150 km north of Krui. The location was beyond rescuers expectation since it's too far away, way too far from what they thought possible.)
