Krui surfs were small
this morning. When I arrrived at the beach at about 09:45, Krui Left was
working small with nobody out, and so was Krui Right. No white people seen in
the water—neither in the beach—but two ladies and a gentleman who were filling
up their bike tanks at the gas vendor by the road to the beach.
However, when I checked
The Peak later I saw two people paddling their way out of the surf right at the
time when I arrived. It was a man and a lady. The man got a cut on his leg,
feeling hurt and quit surfing, and the lady followed suit then.
The Peak was bigger
than The Left and The Right, and probably it was the only surf that was surfed in
town this morning. The leftover was big as well but nobody seen out.

It was a lot of fun at
The Peak this morning. The surf was big, clean, and barreling. The morning was
beautiful, but the weather was fickle; sometimes it was clear and sometimes it
got overcast. However, everybody in the water were enjoying the surf pretty
much.
When I checked The
Left at about 10:10, I saw it working small with three people out. The Right
was even smaller with nobody out.
However, when I came
to The Peak, the surf was working big and clean and perfect with barrels. At the
time I arrived at the beach I saw five people surfing, and one was paddling all
the way to The Leftover from The Peak. A few minutes later, came another surfer
with a body board, so there were five people altogether in the water.
The Leftover was also
working. It was big with three people seen surfing. And about one hour later,
two people were paddling back from The Leftover to The Peak and the surf was
left empty. However, it was a long session for The Peak. The surf worked from
earlier in the morning till midday. And when I left the beach at about 12:15,
two people were still surfing The Peak, and none at The Leftover.

Small and two much
wind. That’s probably the right description about Krui surfs this morning. When
I arrived at the beach at about 09:40, I saw Krui Left working small with three
people out. The Right was even smaller with nobody seen in the water. The
weather was clear but the wind was blowing onshore, making the sea a little bit
choppy and the swells were like lumpy.
And when I turned to
The Peak, I saw the same thing. And so was The Leftover. But the swells were quite
big and were like lumpy and crumbly with the same onshore wind. However, two people
were seen surfing at The Peak, and another two at The Leftover. The Leftover
was bigger than the other days.
This three Australian
guys that I met at The Peak didn’t even touch the water. The just checked the
surf and decided to leave the place after a few minutes. They asked me whether
there was a surf without so much wind at
the moment before they left.
The other two Spanish guys
didn’t even touch the water either. One of them went fishing from the beach
with a fishing line while the other one played with his camera. ‘The surf isn’t
good,’ said one of them.
And when I came back
to check The Left at 11:05, the surf was even flat and the onshore wind was still
blowing and no surfer seen in the water.

Krui surfs were small
this morning. When I checked Krui Right at about 09:15, it was small with
nobody out, and Krui Left was small as well but I saw one kook out. The morning
was extremely beautfiful but the wind was onshore and the sea was choppy.
And when I arrived at
The Peak, I saw it working quite big, but it was unclean, choppy, crumbly, and
no barrels. There was only one surfer out and he didn’t like enjoying the surf
so much. And when this surfer finished and got out of the water at about 11:15,
the surf was left empty.

Small. That’s the
right word to describe Krui Left and Krui Right this morning. When I arrived at
the beach at about 10:15, both Krui Left and The Right were small with nobody
out. The morning was beautiful, but it sometimes went overcast and drizzling.
However, when I turned
to The Peak, I saw it working quite big and fun with seven people seen in the
water. Two or three of them were stand-up surfers, and the other two or three
were body boarders, and one guy holding a camera. This guy with the camera didn’t
surf.
The surf was like
unclean but it looked longer than the regular days. It was also inconsistent
both in size and in frequency. However, all the guys in the water seemed to
have enjoyed it very much.

Krui surfs were
working this morning, but they were not fun enough. When I arrived at the beach
earlier, at about 09:10, both Krui Right and Krui Left were small with nobody
out. It was overcast and drizzling like going to rain. But when I came back
home, the sun shone back and it was clear.
And when I checked The Peak
at about 09:50, I saw the surf working with two people out, and two other at
the beach, putting on their gears, about ready to hit the water. And when I turned my head to The Leftover, I saw it working big as well, but nobody out.
The Peak was bigger
but it wasn’t like perfect with barrels. The swells were like breaking all the
way from the peak to the bottom. But later, they got better in shape and bigger
in size.
And when I came back
to check Krui Left, I saw it working a little bit bigger with about four or five
people in the water. The Right was also bigger than it was earlier in the
morning with one surfer out.
According to Lucy,
Mandiri was big but it was closing out with nobody surfed.

It was a big morning,
and both Krui Right and The Left were working. When I arrived at the beach at
about 09:10, I saw The Right working big, about three to four foot, with only
three surfers in the water. And The Left was working just as big with five or
six people seen in the lineups. However, the session had actually just begun
because I saw some other surfers on the beach putting on their gears, ready to
hit the water.
Only a few minutes
later, the surf became more crowded with people. At least fifteen people were
seen at The Left, and about seven or eight at The Right, not to mention those
who stayed at the beach watching. The tide was high and the swells were like pumping
all the way out, and the wind was like side-offshore. But later in the morning,
it was like taking a rest and becoming smaller and inconsistent. But, still,
some set of waves came over one by one.
The surfers kept
turning over and the fun continued until midday. Some surfers who arrived
earlier in the morning only took a turn to surf The Right at noon, when the
people in the water were winding down already. And when I left the beach at
about 11:50, about eight people were surfing The Right, and about ten at The
Left.
PS:
- However, when I went checking The Peak, it was
small with only one people out.
- According to this guy that I talked to, it was
too big at the point, and nobody out. “It’s scary. Nobody surfed,” he said. And
everybody seemed to have come to town.

Beautiful morning but
the surf was just average. When I arrived at the beach at about 09:15, Krui
Right was working small but perfect with barrels with only one surfer out. However,
some surfers came by car a few minutes later, and some of them went to The
Right.
Meanwhile, Krui Left
was also working. It was quite big but inconsistent. Sometimes the swells were
as big as three foot but most of the times they were smaller with seven or
eight people seen in the lineups.
And when I turned to
The Peak, it was also working with four people in the water. But a few minutes
after I arrived came some other surfers by bikes. Two of them got into the surf
joining the four existing surfers, so there were six surfers altogether in the
water.
The Peak was also
inconsistent both in size and in frequency. Meanwhile, The Leftover was also
working with five people out.

Small and inconsistent
in frequency. It was Krui surfs this morning. When I arrived at the beach at
about 09:00, I saw Krui Right working small with only one surfer out. And this surfer quit only a few minutes after I arrived. Krui Left
was a little bit bigger with four or five surfers seen in the lineups. The swells
were coming one by one with intervals, and the people in the water had to hang
out for quite a while until one set of wave come one after
another. However, sometimes the swells turned bigger up to 3 or 4 foot.
And so was The Peak
and The Leftover. When I checked the surfs at about 09:30, I saw 7 people in
the lineups at The Peak, and three at The Leftover. The swells were also inconsistent both in size
and in frequency.
However, when I came
back to The Left at 11:25, I saw the surf bigger and more consistent than
earlier in the morning with 10 people seen in the lineups. The swells were about
3 to 4 foot and they were like perfect with barrels. And the surfers kept turning over until afternoon. And when I left the beach at about 01:45, the surf still worked with four or five people surfing. Meanwhile, Krui Right was just as
small with nobody out.

Small like shit. It was
Krui surfs this morning. When I arrived at the beach at about 09:05. Krui Right
was fucking small with nobody out, and so was The Left. And when I checked The
Peak, it was small too. It was even smaller than yesterday, and no surfer seen
in the water.
However, when I turned
to Mandiri, I saw the surf working like average with more than ten surfers
surfing. The swells were just like yestefay but the people seemed fewer.
When I arrived at the
beach perhaps about 09:20, I saw seven or eight people in the lineups in the
middle, in front of the warung where surfers usually park their bikes or cars. And
about three or four people at the southern swells close to the river mouth. And
nobody seen surfing in front of the Mandiri surf camp.
This earlier surfers
quit and got out of the water at about 10:30. And then came some young and
energetic surfers by a car and took the surf in the middle. This young guys
surfed better, moved faster, and splashed more water, and did more aerials than
the earlier surfers, who looked old and slow moving.
Later in the morning, onshore
wind coming and the water turned choppy, but this guys kept surfing. And when I
left the place at about 11:40 this guys still surfing.

Krui surfs were small
this morning. Some didn’t even work. When I arrived at the beach at about 9:15,
Krui Right was working small with no surfer seen in the water but some divers
doing snorkeling. The Left was like flat with nobody out either.
However, when I turned
to The Peak, I saw the surf working. It was small as well but I saw six people with
body boards coming out of the camp in front of the surf, working in the reef,
and ready to hit the surf. No bike surfers or car coming, and this guys enjoy
the surf by themselves until I left the place a few minutes later.
Arriving at Mandiri, I
saw the surf working with about ten people out. The surf was like average and
the wind was like onshore. However, sometimes the swells turned bigger, about
four foot.
This guys from Karang
Nyimbur told me that it was quite average over there too with a fair amount of
surfers out. Not a very fun morning though. Maybe tomorrow….

Krui surfs were all
working this morning. When I arrived at the beach at about 9:05, Krui Right was
working small with only three people out. And The Left was also working just as
small with about six people surfing. However, the swells were like inconsistent
in size. Sometimes they were big swells, but most of the times they were just
average.
And when I turned to
The Peak, the surf was also working with about five people surfing. The swells
were big but they were not barrels. Meanwhile, The Leftover was also working
but it was no good. This Portuguese body boarder was the only one that surf The
Leftover. And when I arrived at the beach, he was just finished surfing. “The
water was too shallow,” he said. “I nearly drive my board on the reef. I swallowed
a lot of water,” he added.
And when I came back
to The Left, I saw more people in the water. The swells were no bigger than
earlier in the morning. But when I turned my head to The Right, I saw more
people surfing. The swells in The Right were much bigger than earlier in the
morning, but they were like crumbly with no barrels.

Unlike yesterday, both
Krui Right and Krui Left were small this morning. When I arrived at the beach
at about 08:35, Krui Right was working small with nobody out. The Left was
working small either with only two people seen in the water.
However, to my
surprise, the Other Left, the spot in front of Obama, was working bigger than
the regular days with four people surfing. You know, unlike the regular Krui
Left, this spot only work once in a blue moon. However, when it works, it can
get bigger and better with more people than the regular Left; as you can see this
morning.
And when I turned to
The Peak, I saw the surf working big as usual with five or six people surfing.
And unlike the other days, all of them were stand-up surfers but one.
And when I turned my
head to The Leftover, I saw the surf working bigger with more people than the
regular days too. There was seven people out. It was like a coincidence that
the Other Left and The Leftover were working the same way this morning. This is
a perfect morning for all the irregular spots I guess ….

Waking up earlier in
the morning and start hitting the road for the surf at 04:30 is not unusual for
surfers who stay in Krui, especially those who stay in town who would like to
surf up north at Jimmy’s, Honey Smack, or Jenny’s, since it takes about one and
a half hour to get to this spots from the town of Krui.
And this is what I did
earlier this morning with this three Chilean guys, who needed me to come with them for some video shootings. This is the first time for
me to leave so early for the surf. This guys
had to start that early because they had to catch a flight for Bandarlampung at
10:30.
We leave Krui by a car
at 04:30 and arrived at Jenny’s at about 05:40. But the surf was no good, so we
drove further to Honey Smack. Honey Smack was better and bigger than Jenny’s. However,
this guys decided to leave the surf for Jimmy’s. But jimmy’s was no good
either. It was small, only about three foot.
So we left Jimmy’s,
back to Honey Smack. And we arrived back at Honey Smack at about 08:50. But this
time the surf was even bigger.
One of the guys jump
out of the car and hit the water with his body board all at once after the car
hit the break. Then the other two guys followed suit.
It was a lot of fun
for this three Chilean guys. The swells got bigger and bigger from time to time
though they were not like perfect with barrels, and there wasn’t anybody else
in the water. However, the fun should stop at 08:10 for this guys had to come
back to town and be at the airport for the flight. It was shot but fun….
And it wasn’t until we
were on the way back to town did we see other surfers heading up north to Jenny’s,
Honey Smack, or Jimmy’s.
Moral: You still have
time to surf Honey Smack, or Jenny’s, or Jimmy’s before you take your flight out of Krui.

Small and onshore,
that was Krui surfs this morning. When I checked the Right and The Left at
about 9:00, both were small and nobody out but one surfer. But when I came to
The Peak, the surf was bigger with four or five people surfing.
However, the swells
were not perfect and clean, besides, there was no barrel. The swells just broke
all the way from the top to the bottom. The tide was high, and the onshore wind
made the sea choppy and the surf looked uninteresting.
The Chilean people who
were waiting at the beach didn’t get into the water. They just waited and see,
and leave the place after some time. And the people in the water didn’t stay
long either. They got out of the water one by one. And when I checked the surf
again a few minutes before twelve, the wind was more onshore, the swells were
smaller, and no surfer seen in the water.
And when I Checked Krui Left at about 10:30, it was small and uninteresting either with only four people surfing.

beautiful and the tide was low. The swells were bigger and more fun than The
Left and The Right. And later, even more people came into the water and make
the surf even more crowded.
Most of the surfers
stayed long pass midday. And when the rain came at about 1 o’clock, there still
a few surfers left in the water.

Krui surfs worked this
morning. Though they were not very big, but they were fun enough. When I arrived
at the beach at about 9:30, I saw Krui Right working quite big with only two
surfers seen in the water. And when I turned my head to The Left, I saw about
twelve people in the lineups. The weather was overcast and Krui Left looked
smaller from The Right.
I moved closer to The
Left, in front of Sunset Camp. It’s closer to take pictures from here though the
view is too fontal and the angles are not very good. Later the sun shined and
gave better light for picture taking but I never like frontal images of The
Left. I planned to check The Peak but I never did because this talk to the South
African guy didn’t seem to get to an end.
I kept taking pictures
of The Left that I don’t like until the rain came at about 11:30.

Small like shits. That
was the right phrase to describe Krui surfs this early morning. When I arrived
at the beach at about 9:05, Krui Right was fucking small with no fucking surfer
seen in the water. And so was Krui Left. The surf was like flat, and the beach
was like a ghost town.
Turning to Mandiri, I saw
a lot of bikes and cars parked by the beach, and the surf was working. Though it
wasn’t big, but it was quite fun at Mandiri this morning with more than twenty
surfers out in the water. And like yesterday, most surfers were packed at the
swells in front of Mandiri surf camp. Only two surfers seen surfing at the
southern part, near the river mouth. And just like yesterday, the swells were
small, overlapped each other, and not very consistent.
Mandiri was probably
the only spot worked this morning. This guy from the point told me it was small
out there and nobody surfed.

Krui surfs were small
like shits earlier this morning. When I arrived at the beach at about 9:06,
Krui Right was working small and nobody seen surfing, and so was Krui Left. And
when I checked The Peak, it was small either with nobody out.
So I turned to
Mandiri. And when I arrived at the beach at about 9:25, I saw the surf working

overlapping, and not very consistent. However, it was fun for the whole people
in the water.
The Russian girl that I
met told me that she had been surfing for about one hour before she got out of
the water at about 10:00, and so had the Hungarian girl. They are all beginners
though. However, the Brazilian girls who surfed like pros surfed much longer. Their
Brazilian guy friend who was behind the camera taking videos of the girls told
me that they had been in the water for hours. This guy used a very high-tech
type of DSLR camera. He told me that he was making a video for Brazilian TV. Wow….(y)

Krui surfs were not
very fun earlier this morning. when I arrived at the beach at about 9:30, I saw
Krui Right working quite big, but only two surfers were seen in the water. The
swells were not clean with ripples and the wind was like onshore. Meanwhile,
Krui Left was also working, but it was small with about four or five people

And when I turned to
The Peak, I saw it working quite big with only one surfer out. The tide was
high and the swells were breaking all the way from the top to the bottom; no
barrels. About twenty minutes later, another surfer came out from Zandino’s
camp, so there were two surfers out in the water.
About one hour later,
the wind calmed down and the water looked more glassy and cleaner, and the
swells were bigger. More surfers coming, and when I left the beach at about
12:00, there were about six or seven people left surfing.
