I don’t have much to tell about this guy. I met him this
morning at Krui Left. He sat alone on the soil taking photographs of people in
the water. He didn’t look like having surfed already, or about going have some
surfs. He was just there to photograph.
It was overcast and Krui Left was big. About twelve people
were in the water. Some Spanish surfers just got out of the water and met their
friends at the shore. There were more people at shore, watching and waiting for
their turn. This guy pointed his camera and makes some shots. I think he just
shot randomly. He didn’t point his shots to someone special.
I came over him, got ready my pocket camera, and asked some
questions. He answered me politely and he realized that I was recording. “Do
you mind if I put this on YouTube?” I asked. “If you pleased …” he smiled.
Later in the evening I met this guy again. This time he was
sitting on his bag by the main road in front of Sempana Lima Hotel, about one
and a half km from his camp.
“Hi, Joe. Are you leaving now?”
He turned his head and smiled.
“Yes. We are leaving now. We are going by SAN travel. It’s
about five minute-walk from here.”
“And why are you here?”
“I am waiting for my friend. We walked together from the
camp, but then I took a ride on a bike, and he is walking. I told him that I
gonna wait for him here. What is the time? We are leaving at 5.30”
It was five o’clock pass something.
And not long after that, I spot a white man racing his pace
in a distance.
