One Day with Body Boarders

This video about Krui Surfs came out on Indonesian TV months ago. It was played on ANTV, one of Indonesian private national TV station. However, this video is lack of knowledge about Krui surfs. Instead of portraying major surf spots like Karang Nyimbur, Jimmy’s or Jenny’s, or Krui Left, it only portrayed minor spots in the region.

The camp that appears in the early scenes in this video is located in Karang Nyimbur, the major surf spot in the region, but the surf scenes are not there. The first surf portrayed in this video is the spot called ‘The Leftover’, located in the town of Krui, about 20 km from the camp. As hinted by its name, this spot is not at all a main destination of foreign surfers, it’s only popular among body boarders, and not all body boarders know this spot either.

The second spot is called “The Peak” or “The A Peak”, also located in town of Krui, just a stone throw from The Leftover. This spot is also more suitable for body boarders. And since the Portuguese people being portrayed in this video are mostly body boarders, and the man interviewed in this video, a Portuguese, is also a body boarder, it means that the TV crew hang out with body boarders all day long. They got no glint of a standing surfer at all.

This video seems to have been shot in one location, in one day only, and the crew seems not to have talked to a single standing surfer at all. That’s why this video turns out to be a journal of ‘one day with body boarders’.
