A Cassa King Oppayer (probably CASA King Air) was flown from Jakarta and landed on Krui airport on September 4, 2012, at about 9:30 in the morning.

The airplane was to pickup Barnt (25) an Australian surfer who injured himself while he was surfing in the town of Krui.

The manager of Villa Desa surf camp at Way Redak, Krui town, Ani, said that the plane was coming to pickup one of his customer.

“The airplane was flown from Jakarta to pickup Barnt (25) an Australian surfer who suffered from spinal injury while he was surfing Krui Left, Monday, September 3, 2012, at about 11:00. He may have fallen off and broken his spine,” she said.

She also said that Barnt would be flown to Singapore for a better care right away as soon as the plane arrives in Jakarta. “Some of Barnt’s stuff was still left behind because the airplane is not allowed to take excess baggage,” she added.

One of the airport staff said that Krui airport hasn’t actually got an operational licence for flight, yet the airplane has a licence to land because it has to pickup an injury man.

“The airplane has a licence from Jakarta to land at Krui airport only to pickup the injury man,” he added.
