Krui Airport to Test-fly on Sept. 28

Flying-test to Krui airport will take place on Sept. 28, 2011. The schedule is confirmed after a team of the Local Government of Lampung Barat held a meeting with representatives of Susi Air and of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Department of Transportation in Jakarta, last Sunday.

The team of Lampung Barat Government is made of the head of Krui Airport Syarifuddin, the head of Transportation Service Syaehudin, and private secretary of Lampung Barat premiere on public relation Oking Ganda Miharja.

Syaehudin explained that all the preparations prior to the first flight have already been made, although the road to the airport is not yet been paved due to lack of fund. “However, we can say for sure the airport is ready for its very first flight,” he said.

In anticipation for some obstacles that may hamper the flight, the Local Government has cut down some trees around the airport.

“This test-flight is dedicated to the 20^th anniversary of Lampung Barat County, which is  on Sept. 24,” he added.

The head of Krui Airport said the preparations for the first flight is nearly complete. “We are now waiting for the first landing license from the Directorate of Air Transport in Jakarta. Judging from the meeting we have today, we are optimistic that the license will be granted any time soon. In a few days, the team form Directorate of Airport and the Directorate of Worthiness will go checking the airport,” he added.

Meanwhile, representatives of Susi Air, Ayata Arrasyid confirmed that they are ready to hold flights to the airport. “However, we will hold charter flight in the first place,” he said. For regular flights, we need time to make preparations, maybe two or three months. Because we have a lot of things to get ready.”
